Our system offers protection from sound intrusion within the working environment.
Sound in the workplace:
In the workplace noise pollution has an impact on staff morale, efficiency and productivity; a lack of sound privacy has proved to be one of the biggest drains on employee morale.
Noise pollution can come in a variety of low, medium or high frequency sounds. Higher pitched noise, carried by short sound waves, are easier to absorb. Noise at lower frequencies, for example traffic noise, is less easy to deal with.
Often overlooked is the use of glass to reduce noise - either for external curtain wall & doors or used for internal screens and doors, the noise can be reduced dramatically.
Levels of noise pollution:
It is therefore important to choose the correct acoustic glazing type, to best deal with the frequency or pitch of the noise to be absorbed - as well as the levels of decibels to be reduced.
Sound insulation within a glazing system is achieved by building in cavity space between panes of glass, using thicker glass, using an efficient insulating window frame or utilising specially laminated acoustic glass.
In the same way that our specialist glazing systems provide fire compartmentation, they also compartmentalise the levels of noise.
Performance testing has been undertaken to EN ISO140-3 and the system has achieved an average weighted noise reduction of up to 35 dB throughout the common frequency range.
