Moonshine - Timber Floor Finishes

This is a very subtle, smoked white oak engineered floor. All finished in Osmo oil so easy and hardwearing.

This house in Usk has been completely transformed - you just cannot recognise this main Lounge - originally it had a thin oak laminate floor that had gone orange over the years and was fitted with a 'floating' method. This is when the oak boards are just laid on top of underlay (similar to a laminate fit). The problem with this method of fitting is that the floor will always bounce and move. Once a floated floor has been damaged you cannot Sand over and restore because there is so much movement in the flooring that any sanding machine that is being used will leave bad marks. It is however a cheaper way to fit flooring.

The solution here was to remove and recycle existing floor and swop for the ATC Moonshire Osmo floor - no sanding or oiling in the house. However ATC had to use quite a bit of solid oak around an entrance mat, on a solid step, in thresholds and around a fireplace.

Initially ATC restored all the other oak in the house and doors - which just needed a face lift as all in oak and never had any maintenance. The kitchen Worktops and bar came out beautifully, just needed a bit of tender care - don't we all?
